Lady Gaga ‘Dies’ for World AIDS Day

On the World AIDS Day, Lady Gaga, along with other celebrities including Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake, sacrificed her digital life to help save millions of real lives affected by AIDS in Africa and India. She is not going to post Twitter updates until $1,000,000 is raised to buy her life back. The money was raised within a week.

Keep a Child Alive’s Buy Life campaign was launched in 2010 and raised $1M for children and families affected with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. The campaign repositioned consumerism and the act of buying, by asking people to ‘buy life’ and turn a selfish act into a selfless one.

Keep a Child Alive was founded in 2003 by AIDS activist Leigh Blake and 15-time Grammy Award-winner Alicia Keys. We believe that every person has the right to quality health care and that all children deserve a future. We support innovative, community-based responses that increase access to life-saving HIV treatment and care, nutritious food, and loving support for children and families living with and affected by HIV. We are currently providing services to over 50,000 people in Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, and India.
