Lady Gaga surprised her fans and the audience when she appeared at Indianapolis500 or simply called Indy500 on Sunday morning. Gaga replaced Keith Urban in the passenger seat of Mario Andretti’s two-seat racer for a ceremonial appearance before the 100th running of the race due to a back injury.
Andretti, the 1969 Indy 500 champion confirmed Gaga’s participation while walking a celebrity red carpet this morning. “I have yet to meet her, personally, she decided to do it, and all of a sudden here we are. She’s going to distract me quite a bit, actually, I hope I can just look ahead while I’m driving.” Mario said with a laugh.
Gaga crossed the footbridge between the track's media center and Padoga wearing a gray romper before suiting up for the participation around 10a.m. Actor Mark Walhberg was the first person to ride with Andretti back in 2010.
