The song is expected to impact radio stations immediately after the premiere through all U.S. Gaga described the song for Justin Moran in her Paper Magazine interview by saying: "I sat with her [Ariana] and we talked about our lives. It's two women having a conversation about how to keep going and how to be grateful for what you do," she added.
During a recent chat with Zane Lowe for Beats 1, Gaga said: "Ariana was so wonderful and I think that maybe she assumed that she was gonna come in and I would be like 'here, just sing this and thank you so much for your time' right. But instead, I asked her what she needed, how she wanted to do things."
"I told her, 'now everything you care about when you sing, I want you to forget it and just sing. And while you do it, I'm gonna dance in front of you," she added. "It’s also a metaphor for the amount of alcohol I was taking to numb myself. I’d rather be dry but at least I’m alive, rain on me,” she added.
The music video is set to premiere on May 22 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m ET. 'Rain On Me' was executive produced by BloodPop®, BoysNoize, BURNS, TCHAMI, and written by Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Nija Charles, BloobPop®, and Rami Yacoub.
