Lady Gaga has once again stolen the spotlight as she joined Joaquin Phoenix and
director Todd Phillips at the highly anticipated Joker: Folie à Deux press
conference held during the Venice Film Festival.
Wearing a Dior couture black dress and beret, Tiffany and Co earrings, Oliver
Peoples´ "Birell Sun" sunglasses, and Christian Louboutin "Daffodile" pumps,
Lady Gaga shared her excitement about taking on such a complex role, stating,
“Harley Quinn is more than just a character; she’s a reflection of inner chaos
and rebellion. Bringing her to life in this film allows me to explore new
emotional depths as an actress.”
At the press conference, there was palpable chemistry between Gaga and Joaquin
Phoenix, who both bring intense dedication to their roles. Phoenix, who won an
Academy Award for his performance in the original Joker, expressed his
admiration for Gaga, praising her ability to fully immerse herself in the
role.
"I knew from the moment we began rehearsals that this was going to be
something extraordinary. Gaga brings a ferocity and authenticity that’s rare,”
Phoenix shared during the event. He also told the press that: "Stefani
was like “we’re gonna sing live” and every part was sung live with a pianist
on set.
On the other hand, Gaga revealed that she enjoyed working with Joaquin
adding: "It was a total breeze. He’s incredibly loose and free.” She also
told the press how they transformed into their roles, the rehearsal behind a
waltz for a few months, and her love to create music and movies.
As the excitement builds for the release of Joker: Folie à Deux, fans are
eager to see how Gaga and Phoenix will bring their characters to life. The
film promises to be a dark and emotional journey, exploring themes of mental
illness, love, and the power dynamics between the Joker and Harley Quinn. It
will not only expand on the gritty, intense world established in the original
film but also add layers of complexity with musical sequences and a deep dive
into Harley Quinn’s backstory.
