Does Lady Gaga actually have a good poker face? Did she really want to perform inside a vending machine? And what’s the longest she’s ever spent doomscrolling on TikTok? These were just a few of the burning questions she answered while taking Vanity Fair’s infamous lie detector test.
The pop superstar—whose highly anticipated album Mayhem drops on March 7—quickly bonded with the test administrator. “I feel like you know the truth about my soul in ways I don’t,” she mused. “I wanna know if I’m being honest.” Throughout the test, she revisited some of her biggest hits and even settled a mystery that has haunted fans for years.
When asked whether the 2010 Telephone music video—famously ending with the words “To be continued”—would ever get a sequel, Gaga gave a definitive “yes.” As for whether Beyoncé would reprise her role, she offered only a cryptic “maybe.” However, she was quick to clarify that the long delay had nothing to do with scheduling conflicts with Queen Bey.
Despite her breakout hit ''Poker Face,'' Gaga confessed she wasn’t sure if she actually had one. “I don’t think I have a good poker face,” she admitted hesitantly. But after some feedback from the lie detector, she changed her mind. “So I do have a good poker face!” she declared triumphantly.
The singer also reflected on her past pop culture moments. She had little recollection of her brief appearance on The Hills in 2008, but she fondly remembered her tribute episode on Glee in 2010. In fact, when asked, she proudly identified as a fan. “I’m a Gleek. I love Glee,” she said. “I love all the actors on Glee, and I love the show.”
Gaga also revealed that Jo Calderon—her male alter ego from the Born This Way era—has been retired. “Jo is no longer with us,” she confirmed. Additionally, she dismissed speculation that her performance with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy for her Holiday Spectacular special inspired 3-Way (The Golden Rule)—her comedic collaboration with The Lonely Island and Justin Timberlake for an SNL digital short.
