In a dazzling celebration of legacy and reinvention, Lady Gaga took to the stage and delivered a performance at SNL50: The Homecoming Special. This event, commemorating 50 years of Saturday Night Live, brought together past and present in a spectacular homage to one of television’s most iconic institutions.
Held at New York's iconic Radio City Music Hall and hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Gaga began her performance on the piano alongside Andy Samberg, opening with a parody of "Shallow" that smoothly transitioned into a duet medley featuring the Lonely Island's "Dick in a Box" and "Motherlover." The quirky segment culminated with her at the center of the stage, adorned with a wrapped gift box around her waist—mirroring the original sketch referenced in the song. Later in the evening, Gaga returned back on stage to perform a solo rendition of "Shallow."
The event was streamed live on Peacock, allowing fans worldwide to partake in the celebration. The lineup boasted names like Miley Cyrus, Bad Bunny, Post Malone, and the Backstreet Boys, among others.
This is Gaga's sixth and most recent appearance on the late-night television show, where she originally debuted as a musical guest back in October 2009 with a medley of her hits "LoveGame," "Bad Romance," and "Poker Face." In May 2011, she performed the first three singles from the album "Born This Way" and acted in three different skits during the show, one of which was with Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg, entitled "3-Way (The Golden Rule)." Then, in November 2013, she served as both host and musical guest, performing "Do What U Want" with R. Kelly and "Gypsy." Three years later, in October 2016, Gaga performed "A-YO" with Mark Ronson on guitar and "Million Reasons," promoting her album "Joanne." Finally, in October 2023, she made a cameo to introduce Bad Bunny's performance.
