Lady Gaga Premieres ''Abracadabra'' Song & Music Video

Lady Gaga unveiled her latest single, "Abracadabra," and its self-directed music video. This track serves as the third single from her forthcoming seventh studio album, "Mayhem," scheduled for release on March 7, 2025. The song premiered during the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025, unveiling the music video during a commercial break presented by Mastercard, as part of a new partnership between Gaga and the credit card brand.

Musically, "Abracadabra" is a dance-pop track that reflects Gaga's return to her pop roots, reminiscent of her earlier works. The song features an industrial sound, with a repetitive chorus that has been both praised for its strong hooks and critiqued for its familiarity.  The track was written and produced by Gaga with Andrew Watt and Cirkut. A part of the song uses the melody of "Spellbound" by Siouxsie and the Banshees, written by Susan Ballion, Peter Edward Clarke, John McGeoch, and Steven Severin.

The "Abracadabra" music video, co-directed by Gaga, Parris Goebel, and Bethany Vargas, showcases a dynamic dance battle between the light and dark facets of Gaga's persona. The visual presentation is marked by bold choreography and striking costumes, including a spiked red latex outfit and an upcycled white cape. Notably, the video revisits themes and aesthetics from her 2010 hit "Alejandro," blending nostalgia with contemporary artistry.  Gaga was surrounded by 40 backup dancers who broke out in energetic dance numbers. The dance numbers represented a battle between Gaga's light and dark side, per a release.

In addition to the "Abracadabra" premiere, Gaga's collaboration with Bruno Mars, "Die with a Smile," won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys. She also delivered a heartfelt rendition of "California Dreamin'" in tribute to the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
